On homosexuality and Christianity:

“If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.”

You can throw around a verse that says that God hates homosexuals, but I can find dozens of verses like this. Verses that say things like “everyone” and “all people” or even “whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” These verses are much more common than the few that say homosexuals will go to hell. That idea isn’t even consistent with the Christian belief system as I understand it. I see a double standard thrown around constantly in churches, and it pisses me off. Partly because they use it as an excuse to do the very opposite of what they are called by God himself to do, and party because it’s just so blind. They look down on homosexuals out of tradition more than reasonable thought. They can’t even back up that dislike without contradicting their own religion at it’s core.

That’s why people are leaving the church, not so much because they don’t like Christianity, but because it’s so hard to fine Christianity today that isn’t misguided and so far adrift from what God wanted called the church to be.
